Thomas Edison Electric (“Thomas Edison Electric,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates this website at orlandofloridaelectrician.com. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect information about you when you visit our site, schedule service, or otherwise interact with us. We are a Florida-licensed electrical contractor (FL EC13015487) and we take your privacy seriously.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide directly:

  • Contact details: name, postal address, phone number, email address
  • Service details: a description of the work needed, property type, access notes
  • Scheduling: appointment date and time preferences submitted via our online scheduler
  • Payment information (collected and processed by our payment processor, not stored on this site)
  • Any other information you choose to share with us in messages or service notes

Information collected automatically:

  • Device and browser information (browser type, operating system, screen size)
  • IP address and approximate geographic location (city / state level)
  • Pages visited, time on page, referrer URL, and clicks within our site
  • Cookies and similar tracking technologies (see Section 5 below)

Information from third parties:

  • Online review platforms (Google, Yelp, Facebook) when you leave a public review of our work
  • Our scheduling and dispatch software (ServiceTitan) to confirm appointments
  • Service partners and lead-referral platforms, if you’ve contacted us through one

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To deliver service: schedule appointments, dispatch electricians, perform the work you’ve requested, and follow up after completion
  • To communicate with you: appointment confirmations, arrival notifications, invoices, and service-related updates
  • For internal records: job history, warranty tracking, code-compliance documentation, and accounting
  • For marketing (only with your consent): seasonal maintenance reminders, safety notices, and occasional offers
  • To improve our service: understand how our site is used, identify which content is helpful, and fix bugs
  • To comply with the law: respond to legal process, enforce our Terms, and protect our rights or yours

3. Email Marketing

We comply with the federal CAN-SPAM Act. We will only send you marketing email if you’ve opted in (for example, by checking a marketing box on our contact form) or if you’re an existing customer receiving information about services related to work we’ve already done for you.

  • Every marketing email includes a working unsubscribe link.
  • Every marketing email identifies us as the sender and includes our physical business address.
  • Unsubscribe requests are honored within 10 business days, as required by federal law.
  • To opt out at any time, click the unsubscribe link in any email or contact us using the details in Section 11.

4. Text Message (SMS) Marketing

We comply with the federal Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), the Florida Telephone Solicitation Act (FTSA, as amended in 2023), the CTIA Messaging Principles and Best Practices, and the 10DLC requirements of mobile carriers operating in the United States.

  • Express written consent required. We will not send you marketing or promotional text messages unless you’ve affirmatively opted in (e.g., by checking a clearly labeled SMS consent box when booking online or providing your number for that purpose). Consent is not a condition of purchasing any service.
  • Transactional messages related to your scheduled service (appointment confirmations, “tech is on the way” notices, payment receipts) are sent on a service basis and are not marketing messages.
  • Opt-out. Reply STOP to any text message to unsubscribe. We will confirm your opt-out and you will not receive further marketing texts. You can also reply HELP for assistance or call us at (407) 490-0004.
  • Quiet hours. Marketing texts are sent only between 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM in the recipient’s local time zone, per FTSA and TCPA guidelines.
  • Sender identification. Every marketing message identifies “Thomas Edison Electric” as the sender.
  • Message and data rates may apply. Carrier message/data rates apply per your mobile plan. Frequency varies by message type and your relationship with us.
  • Florida residents: the FTSA gives you additional protections, including a private right of action for certain unsolicited marketing texts. We do not send such messages.

5. Cookies, Analytics, and Tracking

We use cookies and similar technologies for the following purposes:

  • Strictly necessary cookies: required for the site to function (login session, scheduler widget, security). These cannot be disabled.
  • Analytics cookies: Google Analytics or similar tools to measure traffic and page performance. Data is aggregated and not used to identify you personally.
  • Performance cookies: Cloudflare uses cookies for security, bot mitigation, and CDN delivery.
  • Marketing pixels: if we run paid advertising (Google Ads, Meta/Facebook), conversion pixels may be loaded on certain pages. These do not collect identifying personal information unless you submit a form.

You can disable cookies in your browser settings, but the site may not function fully without them. We honor browser-level Do-Not-Track signals where technically feasible.

6. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as needed to deliver service or as required by law:

  • Service providers who help us run our business (scheduling software, hosting, payment processing, email delivery, analytics). These vendors are contractually bound to use your information only for the services they provide to us.
  • Subcontractors or affiliated electricians who perform work on our behalf, where necessary to complete a job.
  • Legal and safety: when required by law, subpoena, or court order, or when necessary to investigate fraud, protect our property, or protect the safety of any person.
  • Business transfers: in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, customer information may be transferred to the acquirer, subject to the same protections as this policy.

7. Customer Reviews and Case Studies

We publish customer reviews and case studies on this site to demonstrate our work. To protect your privacy:

  • Customer names are anonymized to first name and last initial only (e.g., “John D.”).
  • Addresses are reduced to city, state, and zip code — never a street address.
  • Job photographs are reviewed before publication to ensure no personally identifying information is visible.
  • If you would like a review or case study referencing your home or business removed, contact us using the details in Section 11 and we will remove it within 10 business days.

8. Data Security and Breach Notification

We maintain reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, but we use industry-standard encryption (TLS) for data in transit and access controls for stored records.

If we experience a data security breach affecting Florida residents’ personal information, we will provide notice in accordance with the Florida Information Protection Act (FIPA), Florida Statutes § 501.171, within 30 days of discovery.

9. Your Choices and Rights

  • Access and correction: you can request a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct anything that’s inaccurate.
  • Deletion: you can request that we delete your personal information, subject to legal and recordkeeping obligations (we are required to keep certain job records for warranty, tax, and code-compliance purposes).
  • Marketing opt-out: unsubscribe via any email’s link, reply STOP to any text, or contact us directly.
  • Do-Not-Call: the Florida Do Not Call list applies to telephone solicitation. We honor the Florida and federal Do Not Call registries.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in Section 11. We may need to verify your identity before processing the request.

10. Children’s Privacy

This site is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
